..And Followed Him.
Mat 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mat 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
Mat 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Mat 4:20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
Mat 4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
Mat 4:22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
first we see that Jesus preached repentance. Anyone who denies that they are not required to repent but say they love the Lord, they are not speaking the truth and not living in the light of God, because the light of God said to REPENT.
Next, we see here a scene of some men. regular men, doing their regular routine. and Jesus called out to them, Follow Me. Simply put, Follow me. and verse 22 says – IMMEDIATLY they left and followed. let me say it more detailed, immediately they left their FATHER and followed him. When he called they followed, leaving it all behind. Nets, their family, their life.
So lately the devil has been trying to hinder me. pulling me saying – u are neglecting your family. you are so busy with church stuff, that they are talking about you, “.. how you can do all this for God, all this for Christ, all this for the church – and we are sitting here and you can even make time to do anything for us.”
In the bible. Jesus said, He who loves his father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me. (Matt 10:37) He that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (matt 10:38)
And so when Simon Peter and Andrew heard the call of Christ, they followed. When James and John heard the call they followed. I have heard the call – and ive followed. i will follow, where so ever he leads. i will take the cross of rejection, shame and ridicule – and i will follow Christ down the straight and narrow path with him by my side.
Now granted at the cost of some. i will have to choose to leave behind people, and things. But if they are left its only by their choice because this call is given to all. Anyone can choose to follow Christ, it is not Gods will that ANY should perish but that all would come in to repentance. (2Peter 3:9) yeah back to that repentance thing. thats what it takes, repent from your sins. and its drilled into certain denominations repentance, turn from your sins – but they dont do it and they thing they are ok. back to that old lie of satan “you shall not surely die..” yeah you surely will if u are living in sin.
but thats not my point. my point is that i have choosen to follow. and if you are going to be upset, or if u feel neglected, know that it is by your own choice. because the same call i heard – is being called out to you. and he so deeply desires to have you follow. he so deeply desired to give you new life. (Rom 6:4) He desires for you to be pulled from darkness, translated into his Glorious light, into the kingdom of his Son. (Col 1:3) He wants us all to have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16)that we might all glorify the father (matt 5:16) and live so abundantly (john 10:10) that our joy and love overflows. (1 pe 1:8)

Love, the need of the ages
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
i sit here and i wonder .. Why is LOVE the greatest commandment? Not because i dont think it should be, but because i want to ponder and dig into why God would say love to be the greatest commandment.
Two things came to my mind. and as elementary as they may be, they are on my heart and i just want to write it out – even if it be for my own good :)
one. When we *LOVE* God. when we truly love him, with our whole heart. our whole soul and our whole mind – Duet says with all of our might, when we put this much effort of ourselves into loving God, the rest will fall into place. it will be nothing to obey the commandments of God when we love God. when we love God it is nothing to serve him, to give things up for him, to forsake all things and run after him with a completely devoted heart. if u find yourself, not able to give something up. not able to let go of a particular thing, check your love for God. there is a reason this is the greatest commandment.
two. Sinner people are looking for love. it is something that, satan has definatly distorted. Humans, as being made in the image of God, desire and have a longing and a hole in their hearts for love. a God love. a Holy and divine love. a love that only God can provide. but satan has the world looking for this love in every avenue and angle that God is not in. So, Christ commands us to love. to show forth this love that he provides, people are dying and going to hell with out it. and we hold the answer. we hold the love they seek, we MUST show it to them.

possess your vessel
Ive got a lot to express in this blog and it might get broken up into two. i just want to be open and straight forth in the power of the Word of God.
1 thess 4:1-8, i made it small cause it is so long – feel free to look it up so it can be bigger lol
1Th 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
1Th 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1Th 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
1Th 4:5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
1Th 4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
1Th 4:7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1Th 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
My first thought is from verse 1. “..that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God..” To begin with, how ye ought to walk. There is a way how you ought to walk! There is a way Jesus walked – and we are to be like our Creator, our Savior. Paul and the apostles walked this way. There are still those today who walk this way – and if u are a Christian, it is the way ye ought to walk! What is this walk? Its straight and narrow.(matt 7:14) Its separated from the world and consecrated wholly to God in holiness – without which NO MAN will see the Lord. (heb 12:14, 2 cor 6:17)
The second point i want to bring out is from verses 3 – 5. “3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:”
If sin is sin, if no sin is different than the other.. than we should take these verses to know that just because it says fornication doesn't mean it is limited to fornication. Your sanctification is the WILL OF GOD. Know how to possess your vessel in a way that honors the Lord. Do not carry yourself in sin as those who know not God!
Last for this set of scripture; verses 7 & 8. “7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God..” For those who say we do not have to live that straight – know and open your ears to hear – truly listen, that God has not called us to a life of uncleanness - BUT unto holiness.. and he who despiseth – despiseth not man – but God.
yeah so basically i re-read (wrote) what the scripture said right? well because God didnt make it very confusing when he wrote – live holy, if u dont like it – ur not despising those who do – but u are despising me.
ok ok so lets see a few more words that go along the same lines as despise.. look down on, abhor, abominate, look down nose at, flout, hate, have no use for, reject, renounce, repudiate, revile, scorn, shun.
I would not want to be one who is found with this attitude toward the Lord, especially if i am one who claims to be saved. Im not trying to beat n e one over the head. And i know there will always be those who choose their way over the Lords and will justify it.. im not talking to those. I am talking to those who truly love the Lord and who are deceived into thinking that they are on the right path – yet they have sin in their life and they think its ok. Open your heart to all the Lord has for you! Dont look down on me for the way i live just because you dont think its necessary, because ultimately u are looking down on Christ & telling him he isnt worth it. That there isnt enough power in his blood to keep you seperated from the world. There isnt enough power in his blood to free you from your addictions, or to crucify your flesh. I tell you there is .. and it begins with sanctification! It lives in Holiness!

are you willing?
1Ti 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
how do we get around this scripture? is it not plain enough?
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
adorn (definition) - make more attractive by adding ornament, colour, etc
let me first say that adorning is not the 'showering' of - its the putting on of even ONE ornament to make yourself more attractive. ONE. 1 Timothy says NOT with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.. so in essence not even one. Let your adornment be that of modesty. MODESTY.
modesty (definition) - freedom from vanity or conceit, designed to prevent inadvertent exposure of part of the body, simplicity; moderation
Adorn yourself with shamefacedness
shamefacedness (definition) - Extremely modest or shy; bashful.
Adorn yourself with sobriety
sobriety (definition) - seriousness, gravity, or solemnity
sobriety (thesaurus) - abstaining, abstemiousness, continence, moderation, refraining, self-restraint, soberness, teetotalism, temperance
i guess my question is, do u love the Lord enough to give up ALL your outward adornment, and put on the inward adornment of Christ? now, we say we are Christians - but are we really willing to be dedicated and consecrated to Christ in all areas? i do encourage you -
Mat 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
the prize of Christ, makes it worth it all!
